makers market 2020 - On the other side

Hobart Town Hall, 4th 5th and 6th December 2020

Launch Event & preview – Friday 5pm – 8pm

Continues – Saturday & Sunday 9am– 4pm

It’s been a tricky year for designer, makers and artists, but with things slowly getting back to normal, and restrictions slowly being eased, we are now calling for applications from potential participants in out end of year pop-up exhibition/market.

This year the event will once again be held on the first weekend of December. We have been fortunate once again to have secured assistance from the Hobart City Council, and have received a Resilient Hobart Grant to help with the costs of holding the event.   This year to comply with our HCC grant conditions,  the theme of the event will be "on the other side", with exhibitors also asked  to present either some work that explores how the isolation affected their practice. Applicants can choose to either show a piece of work in our foyer exhibition and/or produce a short (2-3 min video/slideshow) demonstrating what they worked on during the restrictions

We’ll still be having our networking event and preview on the Friday night for your colleagues and special customers, although we will need to limit visitors based on Health Department guidelines, but will be employing some staff to help manage numbers.

Designers can apply for either a “stall” space around the edges of the Hall, or an “exhibition” space in the middle of the Hall or on the stage. The 2m x 2m stall site has room for 1 trestle table, and should suit those who just need a table to display their work, but want to be on the edge of the room. Costs for space vary from $70 - $280,

To ensure the highest possible quality and best mix of work, all applications will be assessed by the organising committee. Selection is made on the basis of supplied images and description of your work/products. All designed objects and work will be considered, and selected on the basis or originality, innovative design and /or use of materials and the quality of the finished products/objects.

Applications on line, but applicants are strongly advised to read the application notes before applying

Applications close 12th October 2020
